Haven't had the time to watch it myself yet, but figured there might be a few Monkey Island fans in the forums, who are perhaps interested:

Hey! If you got about 5-10 minutes, then come and help an adventurer to prepare for a mysterious trip to the Land of the White Elephants.
A Prelude to an Adventure is a little interactive experience with light puzzle elements, tons of animations and catchy music.

You can jump in and out of the hammock!

Catch some fish!

And of course pet the fox!

The original version of A Prelude to an Adventure was made during the first two weeks of August for the Lowrezjam 2020, where it got the first place in the graphics category and finished 13th overall. It can still be downloaded from here.

Then it got updated and fitted to the August 2020 MAGS theme. Updates included a bigger native resolution, some additional animations and interactions and a new credits scene. This can be downloaded from here.

And finally, version 1.0 adds more interactions and animations, few additional puzzle elements and a fleshed out fishing mini-game.

Does AGS engine allow saving/loading during dialog scripts? I don't really recall any AGS games having this feature and was wondering if that's something that can be done easily or would it require building a completely new custom dialog system?

For some reason I'm not able to rate the games in the database anymore.
Even if I mark it "I've completed it" there's an error: Database query G.35.6 error: Column 'gaveupreason' cannot be null

Come and help this tiny EGA character escape from an icy predicament:

Also, throw fish in a barrel:

The original version of Don't Ice Your Cool was made in four days for the June 2018 MAGS competition "Ice". It can still be downloaded from here.

This is version 1.2 with some additional animations, puzzles, interactions and a secret after-credits scene.
It's still a very short and simple game even with the updates, but hopefully offers a few minutes of fun and enjoyment.

Story:
After her colleague is taken off station because of a mysterious illness, Alawa Velasco is working double shifts on a old terraforming station. She won't be alone for too long...

Demo: Download the MAGS demo from here.
This demo version is actually still missing quite a few puzzles, interactions and story parts. So, I'd say that it's more of a proof of concept, than an actual finished and polished sample of the game, but hopefully it will give a little taste of the planned atmosphere, mechanics and visuals.

Team:
Hobo: design, scripting, writing, character sprites and animation
Pinback: background art and music
selmiak: environment animation, sound effects, additional design and writing
Myshkin: music

Estimated release date: 2023

Direct link, in case you don't like itch.io

A short and simple point-and-click adventure made for itch.io LOWREZJAM 2017. It's a bit lacking in story and puzzles, since I mainly wanted to experiment with really low-resolution graphics and animations, but there's some weird symbolism and odd situations here and there. Hopefully it will bring a few minutes of fun.

Bridges

Build me a bridge worthy of crossing.

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/RLMpwBJ.png[/imgzoom]

For this background blitz you need to draw a background with a bridge. It can be an actual bridge, an unexpected makeshift crossing, a nautical bridge or something more metaphorical (like a bridge between nations). In short, if the background has something that can be interpreted as a bridge, I'll allow it. A similar competition was actually held over ten years ago, you may also peek there for inspiration.

Deadline is 31st of March, 2017 (flexible if necessary)

Voting system:
Concept: try to be creative and unique and tell us a visual story
Playability: remember to pay attention to walkable areas, possible hotspots and exit points
Artistic Execution: a little extra effort and polish makes a world of difference

Trophies:

Redesigning what? The RoN assets? What's going on?
No, I'm not remaking all the RoN assets. This is me practicing pixeling and character design. Started doodling them when I was playing through RoN games a while ago and now I'm in the habit of occasionally doing some more. It's possible that in about 5 years there will be enough resources to make a complete game out of them, but I wouldn't really count on it.

Everything I post here is completely free to use for any RoN related project, no credit required. If you want to use them for other purposes then please be so kind and contact me first. I'll probably post something new here every 1-2 months or so, if anyone else has something similar to share, you're welcome to join in.

Inventory items

I woke up this morning and had a sudden realization: I need to go on an adventure! I need to drop everything at once and simply go. I know what you may be thinking, but no. You can't talk me out of it and you can't stop me, I've made up my mind. I'm leaving and I'm going to have a grand adventure filled with spetacular sights and unforgettable experiences.

However, there is something you all can do for me. I've still got a little bit of space left in my backpack and I would gladly hand over some pixelated coins to fill it up:

1st:

2nd:
[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/Mpk92hS.png[/imgzoom]
3rd:
[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/nZxiZ6Q.png[/imgzoom]

Rules:
- Draw a sprite of an inventory item
- No size or color limits
- Add a short sales pitch (optional)

And please try to be reasonable, I'd rather not lug around huge buildings, funky spaceships or a herd of cows.
You have until January 29th.

It's alive!

Hi! The theme of this sprite jam is "It's alive!" It means that for a qualifying entry you'll need to create a character sprite of something that is not usually considered to be alive. It could be an inanimate object, undead creature, some sort of mechanical device or whatever else you can think of, as long as it's something that you would not expect see running around or having a consciousness.

Rules:
- Create a character sprite of something that is not usually considered to be alive
- No size limit
- Use all the colors you want
- Have lots of fun and be nice to others!

Competition lasts from 23.08 - 06.09 and then it's voting time.

Voting:
Voting system will depend on the amount of entries. In case of a draw, I will choose the winner.
If the winner of the competiton does not start a new competition in 2 weeks, that honor will go to the next in line.

Tied to a bed and slowly losing control over your body? A small sci-fi adventure for the February 2015 MAGS competition "Losing Something"
As most MAGS games, it's a bit rough around the edges and extremely short, but hopefully still an enjoyable experience.

Design, Writing, art and programming: Hobo
Music and additional programming: Cino
Italian translation: Stefano Siclari

Thanks to Lemonhead for the "Extended ALARCOST (BASS) 1.4" template

You can play the Italian version of the game by changing the game language in the winsetup.exe.

Inspired by CaptainD's looking forward to in 2015 thread, I decided to put together a list of adventure games to be released in 2015.

- There are currently two separate list: one for AGS games and other for everything else (maybe a third list for remakes?).
- Most games should be at least of medium length, but short games with good production values and longer development cycles will also find their way in here.
- The list is not complete, I'll keep updating and changing it during the year and marking games that are released.
- If the game is not marked as free, it's either commercial or I didn't find any information regarding its status.

All kinds of information and suggestions are welcome, so if there's a game that needs to be added/removed or you have some insight about something specific, share your opinions in the thread.

If you have a game in the list and wish it to be removed or want to change the links, send me a PM.

AGS Games in Production / Kingdom of Ehcilc
Sat 19/04/2014 11:58:46

Kingdom of Ehcilc will be a classic point-and-click adventure game revolving around fantasy and adventure game cliches.
It's currently planned to be about an hour long and will hopefully be released as freeware in 2022.

Current team:

  • Hobo - game design, graphics, writing, scripting
  • Atavismus - scripting, additional puzzles and writing

Features:

  • An overly complicated 4-verb GUI to scare away modern low-attention span gamers
  • Choose a hero and experience reasonable differences in the way you play the game
  • Eye-popping trophy room for all the scrooge-like achievement hoarders
  • Multicolored non-HD cutscene(s) that might even be animated
  • Challenging mini-games and intense action sequences and maybe even some puzzles too
  • No multiplayer or floppy disk support. Sorry everyone! :(

Updates and progress:
I'll try to post something every week or two or three and some stuff might also be announced in tulevik.EU twitter.

Update 1 (23.04.2014) - Current state of things and the beginning of our journey

         Update 2 (03.05.2014) - Story and setting

Update 3 (15.05.2014) â€" Small pixels, big picture

Update 4 (29.05.2014) - Take a Look or Use the Talk?

         Update 5 (19.06.2014) - Captain's Log, Stardate 5839.12.3

Update 6 (27.07.2014) - Colors... those wonderful, beautiful colors

Update 7 (19.09.2014) - My conversations with dialogues

         Update 8 (08.10.2014) - Keep it moving!

         Update 9 (10.01.2015) - Puzzled?

Update 10 (24.01.2015) - It's not the size that matters...

         Update 11 (24.03.2015) - Quite a character

As I have never in my life seen a Super Bowl game, I thought that I should finally give it a go this year. So, on February 2nd, I get my root beer and buttered up popping corn ready, sit comfortably in my armchair and turn on the good old TV... but wait a minute... I was expecting to see someone score four touchdowns in one game, but they're just showing silly halftime commercials. Hey, don't get me wrong, some of these clips are pretty damn awesome, but what exactly are those products or services they're trying to sell me:

Guidelines/rules:
- Color a product or service that could or should be advertised during the Super Bowl halftime show.
- Competition lasts from 26.01 to 09.02 (two weeks), winner will be decided by voting.
- You may flip, rotate, mirror, use as many colors as you want and have lots of fun.

And here are the trophies:
