The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

This was a fun game especially for people who enjoy detective noir type adventure games.

A pretty fun game. The art direction was very good, even if not super-detailed, and worked quite well. The puzzle design was a bit hit-or-miss, with a few creative ones along with some over-reliance on particular types of solutions. My biggest problem with the game was the voice acting, which was (trying not to be mean here) very distracting and kind of ruined any sense of immersion. The game would have been much better without it. Still, overall it's worth trying out.

Absolutely wonderful game that had me entertained the entire way through. The multitude of puzzles were just challenging enough (for me) to be fun but not frustrating. Well, not *too* frustrating. Without a few moments of frustration along the way no game is complete...

The soundtrack is amazing and adds bundles to the mood!

The comic book style cut-scenes were all very well presented and perfectly paced with the plot so as to be unobtrusive. They felt welcome each time they appeared and left me feeling with a continuing feeling of accomplishment.

The "percentage completed" readout is nice. In the early stages it adds the pleasure of knowing that you still have a lot more fun coming your way, and in the later stages it builds suspense as the climax approaches.

A few issues:

* During some of the full-screen cinematic sequences and during some ingame object movements the game slowed to a snail's pace for me. But then again I do have a fairly crappy computer. Might not be an issue for most people who have decent puters.

* Sometimes when the characters yelled out at me it was a bit loud and jarring compared to the BGM and other ambient sounds. I think though there is a setting to turn down the speech volume. I would recommend the default setting to be set just slightly lower though.

* After one particularly dark moment in the story I thought the main character/"narrator responses" continuing to use their normal jokey tones without a pause felt a bit cold. I know, however, how hard it is to code a break from such stock responses and how much work it would be. Just a nuance I thought I would mention though rather than a major issue.

Very minor points however in a great game.

Took me about 4-5 hours to complete in one sitting with no walkthrough or hints needed, so a very nice game time/difficulty well suited for a lazy Sunday afternoon engrossed in a world of femme fatales, thugs, underworld conspiracies, and film noir nostalgia.

Well worth any classic adventure-game fan's download

A very atmospheric and interesting game. Although the graphics are fairly simple, A LOT of effort has clearly gone into the art direction of Skumring, and the whole package comes together very nicely.
