The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

This is my MAGS entry for June 2016, in which the theme was "Neglected Historical Eras".

My entry is basically the classic old game "Lunar Lander", but turned on its side and where, instead of landing on the moon, you must try to guide Columbus along the historically accurate routes of his four voyages to The New World (plus one bonus fictional fifth voyage at the end.)

The section of my hard disk with Mandle games that I'm going to beat someday is growing...this is hard! Excellent simple idea, and nice execution until I try to steer the ship myself. Recommended if you are an ace at Lunar Lander or just to stubborn to give up. (Or simply for the laughs of it.)

Wacky game, quite challenging. What will Columbus discover?

It's a fun and silly game, difficult controls but amusing slapstick.

Fun, very challenging game. I want to see what you've done with the fifth voyage but not entirely sure I'll manage to reach it!! :-D

As always MAGS was insane fun, insane work, and insane insanity...

I hope players can enjoy the game despite it still being a tad unpolished. The game is fully playable however from beginning to end.

I will be releasing a more polished version in the future.

I feel this game has great potential to be used in classrooms for students studying the voyages of Columbus as I tried to stay as historically accurate as possible to the actual routes travelled (which, in some cases, are not 100% known as navigation was pretty hit-and-miss at the time, but the accepted versions of the routes actually turned out to be very decent for challenging but not impossible gameplay-flow)
