The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

AGS Panel Review

"Secret of Hutton is a delightful little throwback to the AGI days, with appropriate music and some nice animations. The main problems begin and end with the parser, which is far too incomplete to keep most users from wasting valuable time trying different things to get the proper outcome, and this in turn makes the game longer than it would otherwise be (it's actually a fairly short game if you know what to do). That said, it's a fun trip back to when games had simpler design models but still offered an entertaining experience."

3 people commented on this game (newest first):

I had great expectations from the game as I think the title is great, but I was actually quite disappointed when I played it because:

1. There seem to be a few bugs/inaccuracies (e.g. things staying inventory separately after being combined etc.)

2. I like to see traditional pixelated games, but here the graphics were really extreme to the point that they became very distracting.

3. The points system didn't seem to be related to progression through the game. I "completed" the game, but had only 23/40 points. The points seemed to be awarded for some random useless actions such as sitting on the bench.

4. The response "I don't understand" is generated when you listen and there's nothing to hear, or when picking up an item that can't be picked up, but this isn't really the correct response.

It was OK, but some puzzles was quite hard, especially the spiral one. I pass through that puzzle by random clicking on all possibilities.

This is a short game with lovely AGI graphics and some nice humor. I was unimpressed by the parser: too many missing responses. Worth playing with a walkthrough.
