AGS Panel Review
"Though the writing sometimes veers into the distinctly flowery, this ode to loss is hugely impressive in execution. While the idea and design are solid on their own, it\'s the aesthetic aspects that hold the aces. High quality, semi-professional voice acting really brings the characters to life, and fine music evokes suitable moods. But it\'s in the wonderfully charming graphics that EU\'s world is fully realised. Colourful and expressive, the characters and backgrounds are wonderfully engaging, and draw the player into the experience. Recommended."

(the fact this was made in under a month to such high quality just makes it more impressive)
When considering the choice of puzzles one should not lose from sight the fact that all happens in Amber's mind. Some actions are related to less obvious mental connections but such elements also have less meaning in moving from one stage of the game to another. They are more dream like.
The characters are few and I felt that some of them could have been better defined. The gargoyles have their tradition. But I had problems understanding the trees as a choice of Amber for inner dialog. More puzzling for me was the ghoul. And this is because it may stand for Fio's disease/death-from-disease or just a mental voice that tortures Amber's consciousness. Perhaps the author combined both meanings. The character is important because it demands much attention through the extensive monologue in the beginning when the plot is defined.
Generally one cannot speak of individual weaker aspects of the game. For me, there were some weaker points here and there in the flow of the story. But I cannot say that I understood all metaphors. I think that the human shapes could have used a better design, more according to their feelings perhaps.
An artistic achievement of this caliber is garanteed to have a large audience. It is in the power of talented game makers to use their work to give constructive examples that players can translate in their real lives. It is good to show the people what happens to them but a work of art can achieve more
I highly recommend this game and will, myself, be seeing what else the authors have put out there, because I want more.
Also in a technical sense: astonishing backgrounds (the trees and later the animated leaves are fantastic), amazing music and super voice acting!
These kind of games are hit or miss depending on the audience; being short, download it now and judge for yourself!
How did you make those amazing leaves?
Whilst light on puzzles it is thought provoking and fun with great attention to detail both visually and otherwise.
Some of the gameplay was not very engaging, and at times I felt that some parts could have been gameplay instead of just cut-scene. Some parts felt a little too emo for me, not that they were emotional, but more like forcing themselves to feel emotional, which is a totally different thing.
Overall, I recommend downloading it. It's one of the better crafted games AGS games I've played.
The music and graphics in this game are what we've come to expect from Ben's games. Soothing, magical. They help release your imagination, as you try to think what's beyond the edges of the screen.
As usual, the game is more puzzling than about the puzzles themselves, but this shouldn't surprise anybody who's played Ben's previous games.
In the end a great experience, even if the story is a bit of a downer.
