The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

Innovation was the word of MAGS that month, and trance-pacific does not disappoint. Reading the instructions, I did find myself concerned that use of the Memo would be cumbersome, and I wasn't sure whether or not the game contained timed events, which as you can imagine would heighten one's concern regarding an unusual (unusually awesome!) inventory item that's clearly central to gameplay. Hurrah! No timed events and the Memo is an intuitive bit of kit.

This lovely little game was made in a month by just two gents, two gents, mind you who are innovating in a genre where controls can be uber-baneful, straightforwards, or worst case: inconsistent, leaving one experimenting and guessiong throughout. A month. Two people. Enjoyment magnified.

Nice visual framing, reasonable amount of dialogue, nicely devious puzzles, and a dose of 'realism' that makes for good immersion.

Was somewhat confused for a while by the semi-red herring 'Don't talk to things' line when you're trapped in the waiting area.

Anyway, very fun story, very fun game.

Very enjoyable, very innovative. It felt a little short and linear, but that is due to the short developments time allowed by the competition.

It's interesting to have companions with you the whole time, whom can offer insights or whom you must use for the puzzles.

There are a lot of descriptions for everything, some nice character interaction, even a red herring or two.

Then, of course, there's the Memo. An ingenious device that I only wish had seen more use. Just one thing - the character mentions that you should read the Readme to find out how it works, but there's a manual in your inventory as well, which doesn't tell you how to use it at all but is instead crucial to a puzzle. That caused some confusion for me because I kept trying to read it at the beginning of the game.

My only problem with this game is that it wasn't longer! It was incredibly, fantastically fun! And one of the most original plots I've ever seen.

Very well done. A worthy pick of the month. If the developers can spare the time, I'd recommend adding some audio to further enhance the high degree of immersion.

Really great game, too short but very enjoyable ! Nice graphics, nice puzzles, not too hard, I like using the Memo :)

Excellent game, with a good classic adventure game feel. I loved the concept of the memo, and the storyline was well thought-out. My only gripe, if you could call it that, was that the game was so short. Still, I would definitely recommend it.

This was an excellent game - well conceived and sufficiently taxing to make it a challenge. The concept of the memo was fantastic. Truly unique.

Awesome GUIs. And the Memo innovation was a master-stroke. The dialogue was well written (especially the Australianisms, and the puzzles were just right.

Although the backgrounds were pretty, they didn't look like a cruise ship. And there was absolutely no sound whatsoever, but considering it was all done in under a month this is definitely one worth playing. Good job boys.

Interesting ideas there: I really liked the device and I'd love to see an even more polished version of it. And it was a pity that the length of the game did the story no justice. :) Ah well, I'm sure your next game will be even more fabulous!

A must play, the creators of the game took the time to provide us a solid storyline, characters with personnality and quality drawings. This give a overall very good impression, the game is scripted well and misses nothing ... and oh ! All the hotspots get a description, this is valuable :)

Very Nice game !! I've been that surprised since Yatzee's

This game's just great. It's like an Aussy famous five. I like how if you get stuck you can ask your friends for help and they'll give you tips. The memo is a great idea too.

The only problem with this game is the length... It's way too short. Great characters, really original ideas, great graphics, good attention to details.

Awesome game! Some music would have been nice, but the game was fine without it.

I do wish that there were more freedom with the memo(letting you do what you want to with all or most of the memories), and maybe each thing you do with the memo effects the way the story progresses? This might be something you want to incorporate into the sequel or prequel, if you decide to make one.

I really enjoyed this mags game. The memo was something I really found interesting. The ability to change people's memories is a great idea. and it was well implemented. and dialogue and artwork was really well done!
thanks.

The bug TassieDevil mentions has been fixed - anyone downloading the game now should not have the same problem.

Great game, the disappearing gui bug stopped me a little bit but not the enjoyment. Well Done!

Nice, really. I love it when game producers do some research for their games (or simply put in some of their knowledge) to add to the atmosphere, on top of that I loved the friendly attitude of the game - the bad guys are not bloodthirsty killers, nobody gets hurt, no violence needed to look cool.

I'm looking forward to another game by you guys, maybe you'll find somebody to create some music for you.

Thanks for this game!

Great game! Puzzles weren't too easy and not too challenging!

You got to play it!

Loved this game. It was very humorous and I liked the graphics. I would like to see these 3 characters in another adventure, I didn't want it to end.

Also, I loved the memo.
