The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

Nathan Carter, a con man is on a routine job. He is attempting to blackmail a CEO and this is his last job before he retires. Victor Sammuels, his mark is hosting a dinner party tonight and Nathan sees this as an opportunity to search his house. However much more is going on than Nathan or even Victor has any idea about. Soon he will have to rely on your intelligence to guide him through the mansion and hopefully see him through the night. NOTE: If you are having trouble getting the music to play, open the volume settings for your computer in the lower right corner and make sure nothing is set to mute, I have found that this happens relatively often.

AGS Panel Review

"Pleasingly quaint graphics and a good, if somewhat awkwardly told, story are the strong points of this author\'s first game. Minimal, lacklustre sound and music, along with a overall lack of technical polish, are it\'s shortcomings.

A good first effort."

12 people commented on this game (newest first):

I could tell this was the first effort of a young author since it's quite rough in every respect. Yet, this promising start makes me wish Ethan D had persevered.

Very nice atmospheric game! Not too much in the way of puzzles, but still worth a gander to see the story unfold :)

The atmosphere of the game (the background storm) is the strongest point.
The music is also good.
There were some imperfections in the narration but I liked the plot anyway.
Nice game!

I really enjoyed it. There were a few bugs that spoilt the fun a little but nothing too crazy that made me dislike it. I hope to see more games like this.

I am in fact working on a sequel right now.
I am also working on getting a website which will give more info on the characters as well as some info. into the next game. Once the site is done I will add it in the game info on this page.

Good game. The graphics were a bit simple but the story line and game play was great. I wonder, are you coming out with a sequel hopefully. I really would be interested in learning more about the characters. Thanks for the game. I really enjoyed it!

For those who wonder:
Use TAB to bring up the inventory plus the save/load/quit options...

Nice horror game which does its job. Graphics are simple but effective, dialogues well written. The GUI (especially the inventory one) is quite cumbersome.
But in adventures like those what counts are storyline & thrilling moments: I can assure you there are plenty of those in "a Night to Remember".

It's a good first game, and just creating a game from A to Z is always a good thing. I didn't mind the graphics (although the rooms were really big and there wasn't much interaction), but I think the main focus you should have for your sequel would be to write more realistic dialogs. Other than that, congratulations for your first game!

I enjoyed playing, but I would have preferred it if there was more background to set the scene, just something that can establish why Nathan is a good guy, even though he's a criminal. Perhaps we will see more of him in the future?

Although relatively short, ANTR has a captivating storyline and good, enjoyable puzzles. The graphics were simple but worked well with the style, and the music succeded at creating an intense atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game.

I had the pleasure of beta testing this game.
It's a very nicely done old school adventure game with good but not to hard puzzle elements.
Definitely recommended for those who love the old school adventure games.
